Minister of Women's Affairs

Hon Steve Chadwick

Image of Hon Steve Chadwick. Hon Steve Chadwick became Minister of Women’s Affairs in November 2007, succeeding Hon Lianne Dalziel. She is also Minister of Conservation and Associate Minister of Health.

Steve has been MP for Rotorua since 1999. Before becoming a Minister she chaired Parliament's Local Government and Environment Select Committee. She has previously chaired the Health Select Committee and served on the Commerce and Government Administration Select Committees. She has also chaired the New Zealand Parliamentarians Group on Population and Development for many years and was a Rotorua District Councillor for six years.  

Before entering Parliament Steve had a long career in health, as a nurse, midwife and health services manager.   

Born in 1948, she is married with three children.
