Preventing Violence in the Home services to make victims safe

Refugee Lifeline 

Refugee Lifeline is a free, professional and confidential telephone counselling service that provides emotional support to people living in New Zealand who have arrived as refugees. The service is offered in Burmese, Farsi and Arabic. In addition, Dinka and Dari speaking counsellors are sometimes available. They can help with a range of personal problems ranging from psychological and emotional, marriage and family issues, work-related stress, violence or discrimination, loneliness, grief, ill-health or depression. The aim is to facilitate an easier transition to life in New Zealand. Counsellors will maintain confidentiality and anonymity and will not ask for a caller’s name or personal details.

CorporateCitizens 

provides comprehensive information on New Zealand businesses that are committed to building relationships with community and voluntary organisations. ASSISTANCE FOR MĀORI

Maori Education Trust is financed from private bequests and trusts set up from individuals or businesses to administer scholarships for Māori students, and is also contracted to administer scholarships on behalf of the Ministry of Education and other agencies. www.maorieducation.org.nz/index.php/apply-for-scholarships

TAKOA Rua-mano is a networking and linkage resource. It supports the needs of whānau, community organisations, government groups and commerce. Zonta 

offers the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship, consisting of five awards each of $US4,000. The scholarship was established in 1997 for women pursuing an undergraduate degree in business leading to a business management career. In the last round, 18 women from 18 districts and 11 countries competed in the final judging. Applicants must have completed two to three years in an accredited undergraduate programme. Zontians are encouraged to promote this opportunity to women business undergraduates living in their area. Deadline 31 May (check website as timelines may have changed).
