Government Actions
To improve the quality of life of New Zealand women, the Government will:
- Improve access to services, including mental health services, particularly for rural women, women with disabilities older women and ethnic women
- Reduce the incidence and impact of violence on women
- Improve women's health
- Increase the participation of women in leadership and decision-making roles in the health and social sectors.

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs held a special topic forum as part of the Human Rights Commission’s 2007 New Zealand Diversity Forum. The theme for MWA’s forum was ‘Young women, work and diversity: aspirations and expectations’. The event was an opportunity for a group of diverse young women from Auckland to discuss issues around career decision-making and how they view work fitting in with other aspects of their life in the future.
