Women wanted

Post menopausal women aged 40 to 70 with a family history of breast cancer are needed for a study to determine if breast cancer can be prevented using established breast cancer drugs. To be eligible women need to have a family history of breast cancer, or other risk factors, such as certain non-cancerous breast conditions, but haven’t already had invasive breast cancer. The International Breast Cancer Intervention Study, IBIS-II, is being co-ordinated by the Australian New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group. Women due for their two-yearly breast screening are being reminded to make mammograms a priority especially in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Remember – early detection is the best protection. To register with BreastScreen Aotearoa either contact your doctor. ring 0800 270 200, or visit www.breastscreen.govt.nz.
