New Zealand's 6th CEDAW report to the United Nations has been released.
Action Plan goals
The Action Plan for New Zealand Women is a whole-of-government plan to improve women’s lives in the home, workplace and community. It includes actions to improve outcomes for younger women.
- Increase women’s participation in modern apprenticeships (action 1.1.3).
- Reduce the impact of student loans and progressively implement student support initiatives to improve affordability of tertiary education for women (action 1.2.2).
- Reduce the incidence and impact of violence against young women (action 3.2.1).
- Reduce the incidences of sexually transmitted infection and unwanted teenage pregnancy (action 3.3.1).
- Develop and implement initiatives to reduce Mäori women’s smoking (action 3.3.2).
